WSKLuM

The WSKLuM, which was founded in 1958 as a section of the SKLuM (Sports Circle Air Force), was housed for more than a quarter of a century in the old complex of the Air and Sea Rescue Service, located on the Vlotkom in Nieuwpoort.

As part of the establishment in Nieuwpoort of the new marina Novus Portus and the distribution of the new installations made available to the sports clubs, the WSKLuM was allocated a site and berths in the Novus Portus complex.

This non-profit organization with a social impact was therefore confronted with the problem of transferring its installations. In other words, it would be obliged to build a new clubhouse on the north bank of the Novus Portus.

Thanks to the understanding and support of all the authorities involved, both civil and military, this new Clubhouse was inaugurated on September 27, 1986 by Lieutenant General J. Lefèbvre, Chief of Staff of the Air Force and by Major General H. Robijns de Schneidauer, President of the Air Force Sports Circle. The first stone was laid earlier on April 27, 1985 by Mr. Senator G. Mommerency, Mayor of Nieuwpoort.

More than five hundred families are currently registered with the WSKLuM, bringing the total number of members to more than one thousand.
